The Mekong Delta is often referred to as Vietnam’s rice bowl, and Can Tho province, the capital of Mekong. Can Tho is blushing with activity on and off the water, with its tremendously fertile soil is one of the largest producers in the region. The Delta is an incredibly fertile region of rice paddies, fruit orchards and mangrove swamps and is known as Vietnam’s “rice bowl” as it produces the majority of the country’s rice supplies and exports. Rely on this rich condition, people has created the beautiful foods from the gift nature.

  • GRILLED PORK SAUSAGES (NEM NƯỚNG): Can Tho is not the origin of this dish, but they also adopted it as a popular dish in their way. Grilled pork sausages give you all different tastes and textures of these unique spring rolls: the flavoured and hearty grilled pork sausages, the refreshing lettuce and aromatic herbs, the crunchy cucumbers, sour flavour of green banana and star fruit. Then you wrap all together by rice paper cake, add the dipping sauce and you have sensory overload in the most mouth-watering way.
  • VIETNAMESE CONG CAKE (BÁNH CÓNG): the shape of cake is round and look like pipe so they had named for it Bánh Cóng. It is included green bean, rice flour, sticky rice flour, mince pork and river shrimp on top and deep fry in Cong mould. We serve with vegetables (lettuce, basil, mint…) and dip into the mix fish sauce (chilly, lemon, water, sugar, fish sauce, garlic).

Many people say, they are kind of lazy to eat crab when they have to use both of hands to eat, and it has less meat to compare with shrimp or squid, so why they want to try this little crab –  bony

  • GRILLED SNAILS WITH PEPPER SAUCE (C BƯƠU NƯỚNG TIÊU): snail eating perhaps is the most popular night street food as you can find any Conner in Can Tho, there are so many recipes to prepare snail: steamed with ginger/lemongrass, stir- fry with garlic…but there is special way in Can Tho, grilled with pepper sauce. For first sight, you might be afraid of the dark color of snails, they look dirty and sticky, but after cleaning it with lemon; it is ready to grill with pepper sauce, when you taste it, so crunchy, spicy and sweet from snail juice.
  • Fragrantly seasoned grilled rolls of beef wrapped up in wild betel leaf (lá lốt) are a favorite Vietnamese snack that’s great with cold beer or white wine. When the rolls are cooking, the perfume of Piper sarmentosum is mesmerizing and fills the room. Shiny on one side and matted on the other, the soft, pliable leaves don’t have much character until heat is applied to them, at which point they release their sweetly spicy, incense-like fragrance
