BA OM POND

Tra Vinh has long been famous for being the land with thick evolutionary history and also the land with lots of historical and cultural sites as well as architectural relics in the South. Ba Om Pond is one of the renowned sites which recorded marks of our ancestors in the South in the process of exploiting and developing this land.

Ba Om Pond is also known as Square Pond which is about 5km from the provincial centre and located in ward 8, Tra Vinh Town. The campus ò Ba Om Pond is above 100.000 m2 in acreage in which the water area is almost 43.000 m2. There are around 500 old trees surrounded the pond including star trees, oil trees of hundreds years old with their root sprouting out of ground creating strange and imposing scenes.

National ranked Historical Relic

Ba Om Pond was recognized as national historical and cultural relic in 1994 and serve as a unique attraction. This is one of the must visit destination for tourists coming to Tra Vinh. Every year, this area is the place where many traditional festivals of the Khmer take place including Chôn-chnam-thmay, Sen Đôn ta, Ok-om-bok and so on.

Ba Om Pond has long been the pride of the locals in Tra Vinh. Nearby the pond is Ang Pagoda which is the most ancient Khmer pagoda in Tra Vinh built in 990. Khmer Culture Museum is also located here. The triple relics of Ba Om Pond, Ang Pagoda and Khmer Culture Museum is considered the most important tourists attraction in Tra Vinh.

The climate here is cool every time which make this destination “the second Da Lat”. The pond is surrounded with star trees, oil trees of hundreds years old with large shadow, making the place fresh and gentle. Their roots can mix with each other, creating unique caves where children can come in for play. After the hard working days or the bustle life in big cities, tourists coming here shall be experiencing the peaceful feeling while admire nice scenes.
